Choosing the right summer camp

Choosing the right summer camp

The last snow-lined makes it hard to believe that spring will soon be upon us and it's even harder to believe that summer will be coming up in the not-too-distant future. Summer is synonymous with school holidays for children and many parents make the decision to give them a unique experience: the summer camp!

Why enroll your child at a summer camp? To enable him to:

• Develop your sense of autonomy
• Socialize
• Develop a sense of belonging
• Learn about different disciplines
• Immerse yourself in an environment that will nurture it intellectually and socially
• Move daily

How to make sure they are in good hands?

The Quebec Camp Association (http://www.camps.qc.ca) is the reference. This association represents the camps (nearly a hundred) certified by government standards that offer stays with accommodation.

And the private camps?

There are also several private camp classes. Although they do not have to meet all the standards of the ACQ, they are still governed by minimum rules of safety and hygiene. On the other hand, the instructors are not necessarily subject to training (although most require it).

How to choose the right summer camp?

Whether it is the choice of a standard, specialized or immersive language camp, you must first:
• Consult your children
• Establish your needs, your budget and your priorities
• Do your research
• Take a tour of the place
• Chat with the staff on site
• Make sure the equipment is safe and suitable
• Make sure the coaching is professional and adequate

The Sporthèque choice

From June 24 to August 23, 2019, the Sporthèque offers a safest summer camp in Gatineau! Supervised by experienced day camp facilitators and coaches in each discipline, children will move into safe spaces and have the chance to increase their skills in each of the sports taught. Participants will also have the chance to evolve with 1 swimming lesson per day, so they can progress in their swimming levels! Reserved for ages 5 to 12, for both members and non-members, the camp is divided into 2-week blocks including thematic activities and 4 outdoor outings per block.
Registration begins now. Come visit us to make an informed choice and we will be happy to answer all your questions.
